Stopping SPAM, a very serious issue

Service Based Anti Spam Software

We use ClearMyMail as our anti spam service. This works by collecting your emails directly from your POP3 box and filtering them. It then puts the good emails into it's own POP3 box and you collect them from there. We cannot recommend this service highly enough but it only works with POP3 boxes. The cost is £1.50 per month and offer excellent value.

PC Based Anti Spam Software

There are many spam products in the market. We use Inboxer but it's not available for Outlook Express so we've had a quick look at what's available so give them a trial and see what you think.

NOTE: Using automatic updates for your software is a key part of your protection so switch this option on. Below in information on Outlook and Outlook Express. Also see our advice on other measures to stop this threat.

OUTLOOK

Inboxer

We use Outlook at ATNET and have been using a product called Inboxer for since 2003. During that time it has always been effective and reliable. The many hours of deleting rubbish from your inbox will be a thing of the past. We also use Outlook rules for the usual offensive words in email bodies and subject lines.

Our thoughts on Inboxer

  • Won the 5 star in several internet publications when we purchased it.
  • 21 day free trial.
  • Learns quickly and has a review area for emails it's not sure of.
  • Outlook only not Outlook Express, sorry.
  • One charge of $39.95 with no annual fee.
  • Additional protection for Blackberry and treo devices.
  • Version to cover Treo & Blackberry devices and accounts $49.95
  • Multi copy discounts.
  • Hasn't failed us in any way .
  • Very robust. Only problem was running 2 copies of Outlook when syncing our PDA's. It didn't operate when the PDA was attached.

Spamfighter

Although we don't use this email client we have customers that do. Spamfighter is a good value product at £17 per year (Dec 06).
