eCommerce

eCommerce is a simple way of saying "selling online". This can be as simple as a couple of items and a link to a Paypal account for payment, selling your wares on eBay or having your own shop online.

ATNET Limited can provide you with a complete eCommerce solution and offer advice on taking payments, merchant accounts, the best software to use, how to promote your site, and many other areas that will help your site become a success.

Some frequently asked questions

What do I need to take online payments?

To accept credit or debit card payments online your business will need an Internet Merchant Account. An Internet Merchant Account is provided specifically to authorise transaction requests made over the internet and is different to a normal business Current Account. The Internet Merchant Account will authorise credit/debit card transaction requests from your PSP and usually settle the funds to your business Current Account. Most PSPs include an Internet Merchant Account application when you signup for their service but your business may not be guaranteed a Merchant Account. Talk to your business banking provider and your chosen PSP to find out more about Internet Merchant Accounts.

What should I know about security when selling online? Do I need an SSL Certificate?

Most Payment Services Providers (PSPs) provide secure, 128-bit SSL encryption when processing orders from your store. Customers are transferred at the point of payment to the PSPs secure server where their payment details are taken - this means you do not require an SSL Certificate for your own website. Many PSPs offer additional security and anti-fraud measures with their services, including Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode. Some also offer guaranteed anti-fraud protection, much like an insurance as an additional option to your account. For more information, contact your chosen PSP.
