Site statistics explained - Webalizer

Site Statistics

If your domain is hosted on ATNET Newnet Powerhost Servers (Email to find out) then you can see your site statistics with a simple URL. Go to www.yourdomain.co.uk/webalizer/index.html The longer the site has been live the more information there will be. Statistics are kept for a rolling 12 months then replaced with new stats every month.

This is my QUICK AND EASY GUIDE! to your site statistics

Webalizer

The main page - top graph and the table.

The figures on the front page you are most interested in at SITES, PAGES and VISITS.  In the bottom table there are 2 blocks, DAILY and MONTHLY.  MONTHLY are more relevant.

VISITS = how many visitors you have had on your site.  These are not unique visitors so the same person looking twice will cause 2 visits to be registered.

SITES = Unique visitors (approximately). It logs the surfers IP address which in most (but not all) cases is unique so this number shows does not count 2 visits from the same IP address.

PAGES = the total number of pages on the site that have been viewed by your visitors.

A VERY useful stat is "pages per visitor" you'll have to work out yourself, pages divided by visitors.   Anything over 2 is good.  If we can get this to 3 we're really cooking although as your site becomes more popular ironically it gets harder to increase this figure.

Drilling down to more detailed monthly statistics

Webalizer summaryClick on the month you want to view. If it's the current month the figure are up to midnight the previous day.

Summary stats are explained by clicking on the image on the left.

Most of the stuff on this page is too complicated to be of any use but the following will be VERY interesting.  Use the links at the top of the detail page to get to them.

ENTRY = The Entry page your visitors have come into.  Your sites HOME page ( / ) always features highly as you would expect.

EXIT (below the ENTRY stats) = This shows what page the user was on when they left your site.  Very useful.

REFERRERS = This is a fascinating stat.  It shows where people have come from to get on your site.

SEARCH = This tells you what users are searching for in the search engines when they click through to your site.  Although this is a small list now, when the new site is up and running it will increase over the coming months.
