This car is a proven class winner in immaculate condition and has been maintained regardless of cost by the owner and TR Enterprises.
Eligibility includes the TR Race Championship, The Thoroughbred and Sportscar Championship, British Racing Festival at Zandvoort (Holland) and the Trophee des Ardennes at SPA Francorchamps (Belgium). With minor modifications it would also be eligible for FIA racing.
The car has also attracted sponsorship money and contributions totalling over £10,000 over 1992 to 1998.
To build a car to this specification from scratch would cost over £40,000 without testing and on track development. Why spend all this money when you can have a car with proven winning potential and a history of times at all the UK circuits as well as Zandvoort and Spa Francorchamps.

Vehicle History prior to racing
Imported from California in 1990 and built for Alan Tomkins by TR Enterprises to compete in the 1991 TR Race Championship. The car was restored from the chassis up and prepared to the highest standards. The car has a British Motor Heritage Trust certificate and a UK log book and registration number. It has also featured in a number of classic car magazines.
Current specification
The car is prepared to the TR Race Championship regulations and is running in class E (modified) specification. All the parts are supplied to prepare the car for class C (tuned 4 cylinder) i.e. non LSD, SU carbs and 6 inch wheels. The car is currently right hand drive but a conversion to left hand drive (as it was originally) would only cost around £750.
Bodywork - Fiberglass front and rear wings, boot and bonnet. All glass has been removed including the windscreen which has been replaced by an aeroscreen. Tub and doors are steel. Bulkhead fitted between cockpit and petrol tank. Battery box in boot. Roll cage and side bars fitted. Racing seat and 5 point harness fitted. Motolita steering wheel. Fire extinguisher. Helmet holder.
Engine - Built & supported by TR Enterprises. Bore 91mm, approx. 2.39 litres. Compression 12:1. Lightened: Crankshaft (tufrided), Camshaft followers, Camshaft gear & Flywheel. Roller rocker gear. Tilton competition clutch. All rotating parts are fully balanced. Race camshaft by TR Enterprises. Carrilo conrods. Oil cooler fitted. Gas flowed big valve cylinder head. Electric fan and fuel pump fitted. Audi 100 radiator and header tank. Gas flowed exhaust system in stainless steel. Two gas flowed Webber 48 DCOE's carburetors and inlet manifold. Rev limiter. Electronic ignition system.
Chassis - Shotpiened and jigged/aligned. All new race suspension parts. Adjustable Spax shock absorbers front and rear. Specially stiffened rear cart springs. Strengthened around stress points. Suspension lowered to 3 - 3.5 inches.
Drive Train - Gearbox from a TR6 and fully rebuilt without the overdrive. Salisbury limited slip differential. 4.1:1 ratio.
Brakes - Original disks front and heat dissipating drums rear. Mintex pads and competition shoes. Dual circuit brakes. Tilton Pedal box for brakes and clutch. Brake bias adjustment. Superb installation.
Wheels and Tyres - 3 x 5.5inch, 4 x 6 inch & 4 x 7inch wheels. 4 x 7 inch and 2 x 5.5 inch wheels fitted with Yokohama 008R's 205/60-15 (new for 1998). 4 x 6 inch fitted with new (1998) scrubbed in Yokohama A021 205/60-15 wet weather tyres. 1 x 5.5 inch fitted with worn Dunlop R wet/dry tyre.
Instruments - Stack classic tachometer (memory and tell tale, upgradeable) and shift light. Oil pressure, water temp, fuel, amp meter, all as standard.
Weight - 820 Kilograms.
Power - 165 bhp at the rear wheels. Pulling power from 3000 rpm.

The Original car
In 1990 ALC 298A was imported from California in the United States for restoration in the UK. The car was purchased the car in September 1990 specifically to be built for racing in the TR Race Championship. The car was exported to Baltimore in the USA on the 11th of February 1963 and had been lying unused in California since 1983.
The reason an imported vehicle was chosen as the basis for the race car was the exceptionally rust free condition of the chassis and body shell compared with UK based vehicles. The following details are attributable to the original car:
